This is a contract position at Chiyoda Global Headquarters (CGH).

This is a contract role at Chiyoda's headquarters office in Yokohama, Japan. Expected start date is August 1, 2019.

This role reports to the Lead Lifting Plan Engineer, Construction Planning Manager, Group Leader, and Section Leader.

 

Core Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the preparation of safe and efficient heavy lifting, rigging and transportation plans
  • Advice on optimising the construction sequence based upon efficient heavy lifting, rigging and transportation plans
  • Reviewing site conditions and preparation of alternative proposals taking into account physical and environmental conditions
  • Advise on the need to make changes to work plan and sequencing of activities to ensure maximum safety and minimum risk resulting from lifting and transporting operations
  • Review records of lifting and transportation events, advise on effectiveness of operation, any lessons learnt and areas requiring improvement of safe working practices
  • Maintain databases of available lifting appliances, equipment, local and national regulations, codes of practice and safe working practices
  • Ability to deputise for the Lead Lifting Plan Engineer
  • Work to directions and instructions issued by the Lead Lifting Plan Engineer, Construction Manager or Section Leader

 

Technical Knowledge / Skills / Competencies

  • In depth knowledge of HSSE requirements and local and national regulations related to lifting operations and equipment in countries where Chiyoda or its JV partners undertake construction activities
  • Understanding of O&G construction schedule, methods, techniques and technical specifications
  • Ability to interpret and understand lifting requirements and technical matters
  • Excellent computer software literacy, using Microsoft Office Suite, Databases on a daily basis;  proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Ability to proactively function with minimal supervision to achieve Chiyoda, JV goals whilst ensuring compliance with management directions
  • Ability to coordinate and negotiate with others to achieve pre-determined outcomes
  • Cost planning/cost management

Qualifications / Certifications

Preferred:

  • BS Diploma in related field or equivalent experience.
  • LEEA (Lifting Equipment engineers Association) or LOLER (Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations) Training and Certification

 

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a major international Contractor in the oil and gas industry as a Lifting Plan Engineer or similar role
  • LNG plants experience is an added advantage

 

HSE Requirements for the Position:

  • Has a sound knowledge of, and experience working under HSE requirements in the oil and gas industry
  • Must be able to coordinate any problems and take corrective actions to ensure that work with subcontractors complies with HSE requirements
